After experiencing the power of the Pilates method, Gerri became certified in mat and, later, Reformer Pilates and has been teaching since 2021.  Her philosophy is grounded in the belief that Pilates is a way of life, not just a workout. Learning to breathe properly, building and maintaining a strong center, physically, mentally, and emotionally, and taking the time to understand why and how our bodies move are daily, life-long commitments. In every session, whether group or private, her intention is to help participants enjoy movement by emphasizing the mind-body connection, providing careful cueing, and offering options designed to support and challenge. Her goal is to help participants improve core strength, stability, focus, and flow so that they feel confident on and off the mat.

Originally from Bulgaria, Gerri has lived in North Carolina since 1995.  She has MA degrees in humanities and literature as well as a PhD in education and has taught college writing, literature, and health education classes since 2001. When not teaching or practicing Pilates, Gerri enjoys dancing, walking her Rhodesian Ridgeback Doc, birdwatching, and, occasionally, cooking. She resides in Marion with her husband, Scott.
